Northern Heart
Northern Heart is a part of the Northern Hospital Cardiology Department and provides outpatient Cardiac services to patient's in Melbourne's Northern suburbs and regional Victoria. At present the department offers three Consulting sessions. In the very near future it will offer Cardiac Investigations such as Tilt table testing and Echocardiography services and a Syncope clinic.
Cost
Nil to clients eligible for Medicare
Client Medicare card required as well as the following where applicable at every appointment
- Veteran Affairs Card
- Pension Card
- TAC (Traffic Accident Claim number if applicable)
- WC (Work Care Claim number ( if applicable)
- Proof of overseas insurance membership (if applicable)
Note: Patients ineligible for Medicare will be charged an upfront fee for all services provided.

Referral Process
Referrals must be faxed or posted in order for an appointment to be scheduled. Referral must contain:
- Patient name, address and phone number
- Medicare Number
- Doctor to whom you would like them to be referred
- Reason for referral
- Detailed information on history
- Medications
Patient to bring results of any cardiology investigations (ECGs or Echocardiograms), relevant medical imaging (chest x-ray, cardiac MRI) or recent blood results, referring doctor name, provider number and contact details. Some results may be repeated at the Cardiologist's request.
